Time to try some bottled inks and give my traditional brushes a quick workout.

The droppers in the bottle caps made it really easy to dispense the ink neatly into the porcelain plates after shaking the bottles.

The
Liquitex Carbon Black ink was quite fluid and seemed to remain liquid longer in this small porcelain ball with a narrower bottom. The
Bombay India ink dried quicker in the flat extended round porcelain plate.

Drawn with a
Trekell Kolinsky 7000 round 3 brush on the other side of the

Drawn with a
Winsor & Newton Series 250 Pure Squirrel Pointed Mop Quill 0 brush. I really do not tend to use this particular brush often since it can be hard to control to draw finer details, but I got a few for a buck each on clearance a while back so might as well get some use out of them while testing new materials.

Faber Castell Albrecht Durer aquarelle sticks applied like conventional crayons over the dried ink outlines.

Both inks dried quickly and became water resistant on the different papers tested. Thus they were easily colored with watercolors without smudging the black outlines. Their dropper-stopper glass bottles made them quite convenient and easy to use by making a small pool of ink on porcelain plates for easier brush loading. The dried ink washed off completely from the porcelain plates with just soap and water. The
Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay Black India Ink dried darker and faster than the
Liquitex Acrylic Carbon Black Ink.
Worth trying.
