Using my reference library on the
Lord of Sipan and
Mochica culture, came up with this manga-style version of
Quismique as a Crab-Scorpion warrior ready to take on the Titans of the Deep for the freedom of the Sun god. I find this
Mochican hero figure quite similar to "
Prometheus" from Greek mythology given than both brought "light" or"fire" to humanity giving birth to the development of civilizations in their respective parts of the World according to their origin myths.

Really enjoyed the ease of use of the
Faber Castell Pitt Artist pens in both original and big brush nibs, XS, S, F, and M pen nibs in black and assorted grays for creating this illustration. The nibs pleasantly glided on the smooth
Canson bristol surface leaving graceful strokes that quickly dried waterproof. For the watery background, the gray strokes were quickly partially blended with a
Kuretake Niji Flat waterbrush before the India ink dried completely. It is nice to know that the drawing has a longer life expectancy given their lightfast, acid-free, waterproof India ink.
