Just added this nice manga drawing set to my tool box and doodled some test samples. I was pleasantly surprised to find that my set came with a foam eraser rather than the regular white block pencil eraser since it is far less messy to use. Foam eraser particles clump together into strings which are easier to remove from the drawing surface. The 0.7 mm fixed sleeve
Sakura 127 mechanical pencil included has a narrow grip which I prefer to widen with a plastic pencil grip for comfort. Artists with smaller hands should be able to enjoy it wihtout any modifications. The clamshell packaging displays the set nicely on the store pegs, but it is a bit bulky and awkward to carry around regularly. Thus it would be better to transfer the set to a favorite pencil case for increased portability.

I was a big fan of the now discontinued
Sakura Pigma Sumi brush double-sided brush pen since it was the first pigment-based brush pen to become readily available in college art supplies stores in the USA. It produced permanent black expressive lines that did not fade or smear once dried, but unfortunately the flexible brush nibs were rather delicate and susceptible to damage. Now the new
Sakura Pigma Sensei 6-piece manga drawing set might not include a brush pen, but the four pen nibs felt quite sturdy at the first try and produced rich deep black lines. By using them in sucession from small to large, it's possible to create lively sketches and gradually adjust the line thickness as needed.

Tip: for greater nib variety, the
Sakura Pigma Sensei set (0.3, 0.4, 0.6, and 1.0 mm) nicely complements the size selection of the
Staedtler Pigment Liner set (0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 mm). If even smaller nib sizes were desired, the
Copic Multiliner pens would also be a good choice. The nib sizes are clearly marked on the top of the pen caps and the sides of the pen bodies in all three brands, but the
Pigma Sensei pen bodies are marked with removable white sticker paper labels instead of permanent imprints like the
Staedtler and
Copic pens.
