More pencil sketches done while running errands around town

An 8"X10" sketchbook spiral bound on the short side is the perfect size and weight to haul around in a day backpack or messenger bag on a regular basis to take advantage of the many blocks of "waiting time" (at the barber, mall, doctor, or idling in the car) that otherwise would go to waste. This sketchbook size can be used comfortably while sitting or standing to sketch real life objects or doodle imaginary subjects warding off boredom while conveniently improving your drawing skills. A leadholder can be attached to the wire rings for a really compact sketching kit. I prefer the Mitsubishi Uni 2mm leadholder loaded with an F graphite lead since it tends to maintain its sharp point longer while still allowing for some variety in line quality.
The softer pencil leads like 3B and 6B can also be convenient for quick-shading while sketching on the run.
